LG Optimus 3D MAX

LG Optimus 3D MAX. The LG Optimus 3D MAX is LG's second stab at a glasses-free 3D smartphone, after last year's LG Thrill 4G. We got to take a look at the 3D MAX back at MWC, and while the quality doesn't look much better than it did last year, at least LG is trying much harder than other vendors to provide 3D content.

The Optimus 3D MAX is very similar to the Thrill 4G. LG has upgraded the TI dual-core processor to 1.2GHz and slimmed the device down to .38 inches thick. There's also some new software on board, most notably a program that automatically converts 2D games to 3D. Like on the Thrill 4G, the 3D MAX has LG's rotating 3D carousel of 3D software options, including a video gallery, YouTube, and various games.

The MAX's screen is brighter than the original Thrill 4G's, but the resolution is still 800-by-480-pixels. That leaves 3D images looking pixelated. The 3D viewing angle is also still pretty much nonexistent; you have to hold the phone in one specific place to get the right effect. If the Thrill 4G didn't sell you on 3D, we're not sure the 3D MAX will either.
